Great Hercules Cluster (M13)

June 4 - 5, 2024 (Rochester, NY)

M13, also known as the Great Hercules Cluster, is a spectacular globular cluster located in the constellation Hercules. It contains hundreds of thousands of stars densely packed into a spherical shape, making it one of the brightest and most easily observed globular clusters in the northern hemisphere. M13 is approximately 25,000 light-years away from Earth and represents a prime example of the ancient stellar populations that populate the outer regions of our Milky Way galaxy. Its brightness and compact nature make it a favorite target for amateur astronomers and a significant object for studying stellar evolution and cluster dynamics.
