The Northern Lights
May 10, 2024 (Rochester, NY)
The Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, are a natural light display predominantly seen in high-latitude regions near the Arctic and Antarctic circles. They occur when charged particles from the sun, primarily electrons and protons, collide with gases in Earth's atmosphere. These collisions cause the gases to emit light of varying colors, typically green, pink, red, yellow, blue, and violet. I was very lucky to see them in Upstate NY.
