November 2 - 3, 2024 (Cherry Springs, PA)

The Lobster Claw Nebula (also known as Sharpless 2-248) is an emission nebula located about 8,000 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros. It gets its name from its distinct, claw-like shape, which is formed by the glowing gas and dust ionized by intense ultraviolet radiation from nearby young, hot stars.
